04-29 Notes on Friendship: Breaking Bread
The Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute (NCAI) and The Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art (SCCA) Tamale present 'Notes on Friendship: Breaking Bread,' a collaborative exhibition bridging geographical and temporal divides between Ghana and Kenya.
Opening Tuesday, April 29th, at NCAI, this exhibition brings together artistic expressions shaped by the ever-evolving cultural, social, and political landscapes of both regions.
Breaking Bread explores friendship as a space for connection, critique, and care. Through themes of encounters and narratives, collective memory and nostalgia, and the invisible yet revealing nature of objects, the exhibition reimagines hosting and being hosted as a political act and a symbol of solidarity. With 21 artists across generations and disciplines, it offers a layered dialogue on shared experience and artistic vision.
This cross-continental collaboration invites viewers into a rich exchange between Eastern and Western Africa, highlighting the complexities of self, time, space, and aspiration.
Join us as we celebrate the power of art to create new possibilities through friendship.
